Annual Blanket Distribution: Providing Warmth and Support to Vulnerable Communities in Bengal and Jharkhand
Since 2012, the annual blanket distribution in Bengal and Jharkhand has been a crucial initiative to support the most vulnerable populations at the onset of winter. Held at the beginning of each winter season, the program targets homeless individuals, low-income families, elderly people, and poor villagers—groups most at risk of winter-related hardships. In 2025, the distribution was especially impactful, with more than 240 new blankets handed out, alongside 1,500 old but good-quality clothes. Over 100 Pragati members participated in the event, connecting with the community by sharing lunch with the villagers. This initiative significantly reduces the health risks posed by the cold, particularly for the elderly and those without proper shelter. By ensuring that these groups are better equipped to face the winter, the program not only provides physical warmth but also strengthens community bonds, fostering a sense of solidarity and support during the harsh season.
